Canon Powershot A620 Review
The Canon Powershot A620 is a 7.1 mega pixel digital camera. It has features incorporated in it that are usually found in G-series Powershots. It also has optical zoom lenses with a zoom power of 4x. The A620 has a responsive and fast performance due to its DIGIC II processor. It also sports different modes that can be used in different situations and different conditions. The auto focus time of the Canon Powershot A620 has been reduced by 60%. Compared to its predecessors, its focusing ability has also been improved. Now, it is capable of having 2 full stops in conditions with low light. With the camera’s sensors, the A20 delivers excellent image quality – low noise, fine detail and vibrant colors. The Canon Powershot A620 has a 9-point intelligent auto focus system. It also has 20 shooting modes that include Full Auto Mode, Shutter Priority Mode, Program Mode, Aperture Priority Mode, Manual Mode, Custom Mode, Landscape Mode, Portrait Mode, Night Scene Mode, My Colors Mode, Night Snapshot Mode, Kids and Pets Mode, Foliage Mode, Indoor Mode, Snow Mode, Fireworks Mode, Beach Mode, Underwater Mode, Movie Mode and Stitch Assist Mode. Any of these modes can be used in shooting stills and some modes can be used in recording videos. The LCD screen of the A620 is 2.0” and can be adjusted to almost any angle. This is extremely useful for those difficult to reach, difficult to shoot situations. The DIGIC II processor incorporated on the Canon Powershot A620 enhances picture vibrancy, definition and quality. It also helps the camera’s startup process, shutter response, auto focus, image and playback processing, and power consumption reduction. Other models in the A series of the Canon Powershot have had some problems with power consumption. The Canon Powershot A620, just like its predecessors, uses four double A batteries. But the A620 is capable of getting more shots due to three factors: key components improvements, circuit design and the DIGIC II processor that was incorporated in the camera. The Canon Powershot A620 has an excellent movie mode. You can create videos at 30 frames per second 640 x 480 and with sound. The frame rates can also be adjusted. You can choose from the 640 x 480 30 frames per second, the 320 x 240 15 frames per second or the 160 x 120 15 frames per second movies. Some of the shooting modes can be used when recording movies but the optical zoom can’t be used during recording but you can always use the digital zoom. The format used in saving the files is AVI. This digital camera supports Full PictBridge, which means it can be printed directly to a printer without having to use a computer. The Canon Powershot A620 has an easy to use menu for printing and it even is capable of editing the images to suit the printing well. When buying the Canon Powershot A620, the user will also receive a software bundle. Included in the bundle are Zoom Browser EX 5.5 for Windows and Image Browser 5.5 for Macintosh - Canon’s software for printing and browsing. Pros: The pros for the Canon Powershot A620 includes good skin tone, automatic white balance, good exposure accuracy, low chromatic aberration and distortion, outstanding shutter response, nice telephoto, easy to use interface, good LCD viewfinder, swivel capability of LCD, good capability in low light and excellent battery life. Cons: Some of the cons of the Canon Powershot A620 are its not so accurate optical viewfinder, shadow detail tend to get lost when exposed to harsh lighting, flash coverage is a bit uneven at the highest wide angle. Overall: The cameras under the A series of Canon have always been the favorites of some users. This is due to the fact that cameras from the A series are user friendly and excellent image quality. The A620 has become an excellent addition to this series. Armed with a 7.1 mega pixel CCD, a 4x optical zoom lens, 20 shooting modes, DIGIC II processor, movie capability is superb and its other features will surely make the Canon Powershot A620 another favorite not just of the camera savvy population but also those of novices and beginners in the world of photography. |
