DXG-711 Review

DXG USA has come out with their DXG-711 next-generation megapixel digital camera at an affordable price ($149.99 through retail and through DXG USA - The Digital Camera Company™). The DXG-711 has a compact design: slim, silver-colored body less than an inch thick, making it possible for you to keep the DXG-711 safely tucked inside your pocket.

It has a 7 megapixel CCD sensor, 3X optical zoom (a feature which you don’t usually get when you buy a cheap model), and a 2.5" high resolution LTPS LCD ). Accessories include 32MB of onboard memory and a built-in flash. Direct printing is supported, without having to attach the device to the computer first. Thanks to the audio voice memo function, you can record voices, thoughts and interviews with audio files converted in MP3 format – saves a lot of time on conversion and other unnecessary hassles. Great for notating pictures or recording that instantaneous moments of inspiration.

On top of this, the DXG-711 can record 640 x 480 video with sound at 30 frames per second (fps) of live coverage and capture vivid stills up to 10 mega-pixels. You can also use this 7 megapixel camera as a portable, external hard drive to store files in, using the built-in SD card slot. Transfering these files to your PC is possible by just connecting these devices with a USB cable.

The DXG-711 camera has 15 scene modes to choose from, and a maximum sensitivity of ISO 400. By using these scene modes (including modes like Sepia, Best Shot, Fireworks, Face Chaser, Monochrome, Sports, Blur Reduction, Night View and Vivid), you can play around with your pictures, capturing images in different environments and lighting without compromising clarity or picture quality.

Summary of DXG-711 features:
  • 7 megapixel CCD sensor
  • 3X optical, 4X digital zoom
  • Built-in SD slot for better storage
  • 2.5" LTPS screen
  • USB slot
  • 32 MB of flash memory
  • Supports direct printing
  • Digital voice recorder in MP3 format
  • Pre-set scene and macro modes for optimal automatic exposure settings
  • Built-in flash
  • 15 scene modes
  • Records video at 640 x 480, at 30 fps with sound
  • ISO 400 sensor sensitivity
Pros: The DXG-711 requires no complicated instructions or unnecessary assembly. You can literally take it out of the box instantly and start taking pictures without spending so much time making heads or tails out of the manual. Scene modes lets you manipulate tone and ambient lighting in your photos, so you can indulge in your artsy side. Almost all the basic features are covered, and, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get one.

Cons: DXG USA is a little-known brand, and DXG products’ standards of quality have yet to be proven. Not top-of-the-line product, but may do if you’re looking for an introductory device for digital cameras. Plus, the DXG-711 is pretty new in the market, so it’s hard to tell how performance will go over the long run.

Overall: The DXG-711 is a good start for beginners in digital camera technology and the young demographics set. The slim style makes this device trendy and portable, while the summary of features is perfect for users looking for multi-functional, though affordable device. Good to get if you’re on a tight budget and you want something you can really use.
