Default repair or new camera

Hi Guys

I have or rather had- a lovely canon S2 IS- I bought it having joined a helpful forum such as yourselves- it may have been you- but my username didn't ring any bells here - so maybe not- it was perfect for me - very sound advice- however 2 1/2 yrs down the line -I was filming my friends silver wedding shoes- and having changed the memory card (did I do this too quickly I wonder) it made horrifying noises and showed f18 -one dead camera !

So I sent it to colchester camera service as advised by Canon -it will cost £152.22 to replace the optical unit

I hate the idea of my lovely camera languishing in a drawer in Colchester -which will be forever if I get a new one- would anyone here like to tinker around with it -(if you advise me to get a new one) it's cost £15.00 in postage - if they return it to me un mended and would cost another £7.00 to send it on to someone who had the expertise to resurect it - so would anyone here like it for £25.00 ? it just seems such a waste of what was a great camera-

you may suggest repairing it of course -

I so look forward to hearing your views

All the best Anne
