Default Fujifilm FinePix E900

Fujifilm FinePix E900 Review

The Fujifilm FinePix E900 is designed with a clean fit and a sleek look. It is more sophisticated than earlier Fujifilm digital cameras. It has a black body and a nice touch because of well-placed controls and rubber on both sides for a good handgrip. The camera’s dimensions are 4.0 x 2.5 x 1.4 inches and weighs 7.1 oz. It is equipped with optical viewfinder and LCD viewfinder. It also uses xD memory card type and two AA batteries. This digital camera can provide you with 270 shots before its batteries run out.

The E900 has an LCD size of 2.0 inches with resolution of 9.00 Megapixels. The LCD is easy to be viewed in low light. Its lens has 4.00x zoom with efficiency of 32-128mm. and max aperture of 2.8. Equipped with macro (close-up) mode, the user can photograph an area up to 2.40 x 1.81 inches (61 x 46 mm).

From the time the power is turned on, it will take 1.5 seconds for the user to take the first shot. Using its normal auto-focus, the time from pressing the shutter button to the camera taking the picture is 0.610 sec (wide angle) and 0.580 sec (telephoto). To reduce the shutter lag, pre-focusing should be done. The user pre-focuses the camera by half-pressing and holding down the shutter button before finally pressing it all the way to take the shot. In doing so, the shutter lag time will be reduced to 0.010 sec.

The shot-to-shot time or time taken between shots is 1.03 seconds. This includes the saving process as best-quality jpeg file. In the continuous mode, it takes 1.65 frames per second. The files are saved as large/fine jpeg files. A maximum of 4 shots can be taken then the camera slows down to catch up.

It has an optical viewfinder accuracy of 78% and LCD viewfinder accuracy of 100%. Its distortion wide angle is .08% and the distortion telephoto is 0.0%.

Pros: The Fujifilm FinePix E900 has high-ISO performance, which provides photos with excellent detail. During its anti-noise processing at low ISO, very little subject details are lost. This digital camera has enough wide-angle 4x zoom with incredibly quick pre-focus shutter lag of 0.01 sec. With a monster fast USB file transfer, this is very efficient for large images. It also features magnificent battery life using two AA Batteries.

Moreover, it offers manual and automatic controls. Auto control for a wide range of photography styles also comes bundled with this digital camera.

Cons: The presence of barrel distortion and high chromatic aberration at wide angles make this digital camera virtually imperfect. Despite its good sharp lens, its corners have great amounts of chromatic aberration. In addition, its poor flash range of 13.1 feet (telephoto) and less than 8 feet at ISO 100 make up the cons of this digital camera. Scant memory space for a 9megapixel camera (16 MB) makes this digital camera capable of storing only 3 images at a given time.

Overall: The Fujifilm FinePix E900 with its 9.0 Megapixel is a great follow-up to the previews 6.3 megapixel FinePix E550. Excellent resolution and has very well tamed noise level even at high ISOs. Not the fastest in terms of speed, but it bears the speed quality that can be notable even to professional digital camera standards. It switches between menus and mode in a zap. When pre-focused, it will be a great camera for the whole family - even the whole neighborhood can join the fun. For those seeking a camera that is easy to use, they may start with the FinePix E900 since it is easy to use and offers additional features as the user becomes more experienced. The Fujifilm FinePix E900 is a great choice for all types of picture-loving people out there. Slim and small, you got it all!
