Default Fujifilm FinePix F31 FD

Fujifilm FinePix F31 FD Review

The Fujifilm FinePix F31 FD is basically an upgrade from the FinePix F30, adding a face recognition technology that is hardware-based. This digital camera is highly similar with its predecessor and the only noticeable addition of the FinePix F31 FD is its IR communication capabilities.

One of the most notable features of the FinePix F31 FD is the Face Detection Technology. This particular technology was developed primarily to reproduce fine details in the people’s face once printed. Through constant research and development, Fujifilm made it a point to develop the technology immediately to make the tool efficient in taking photos. After some time, the Face Detection technology has finally found its niche in the world of digital photography.

The face reduction technology uses an algorithm to enhance the exposure and the focus of about ten faces within a single frame. A colored-green square surround around the face of a particular subject. Other white squares will then identify some other subjects. The movement tracking then allows the camera to ‘lock on’ on its subjects and wait until the subjects are no longer on the picture. When viewed on playback mode, the Face Detection automatically zooms in the faces of the subject, and properly trims specific shots for optimum portraits.

The low-light landmark of digital imaging was first introduced to the FinePix F30, setting standards of low light photography. When the FinePix F31 FD was officially launched, Fujifilm remained the leaders in compact digital cameras that provide low-light performance. These particular features, alongside the Anti-blur mode, generally mean that the camera movement and the subject never produce blurred images.

The low light photography features of the FinePix F31 FD are true benchmarks in the overall performance of this particular digital camera. Along with that, for occasions when users require a flash, a Fujifilm technology called the Intelligence Flash System provides flash power outputs.

This means to say the users can easily achieve natural foreground illuminations and exposures with balanced backgrounds. The Intelligent Flash System offers results are the visibly pleasing and naturally looking pictures. In situations when deciding about lighting inevitably means missing a photo opportunity, another mode from the FinePix F31 FD called the Natural Light and Flash mode quickly captures quick successions, one having a flash while the other without. After that, these two shots are displayed side-by-side to let the user compare instantly.

The LCD monitor of a digital camera also plays a very vital factor. As for the FinePix F31 FD, it has a 2.5 inch LCD display screen, coated with CV film, a proprietary from FujiFilm. The monitor effectively lessens reflections and glares, thus making the images on the camera viewable even in very sunny and bright conditions where glare is normally encountered.
Additionally, the brightness of the LCD screen automatically adjusts, depending on the available light, to enhance better viewing.

The FinePix F31 FD also features fifteen varied scene positions that include fireworks, snow, and beach, all of which providing the best in photography regardless of the event. It has an underwater scene mode that similarly acts like the red filter. When the FinePix F31 FD is paired with the WP-FXF30 underwater housing, users are assured of the best underwater images from snorkeling and diving.

Aside from the Face Detection Technology, the FinePix F31D also features a Real Photo Processor, a full resolution ISO 3200 sensitivity, 3x optical zoom, 6.3 million pixels, longer battery life that can support almost six hundred shots, IR Communication, and a VGA movie capture that runs 30 frames per second. This digital camera is also PictBridge compatible, thus providing users with ease in direct printing even without the presence of a personal computer.

Pros: Being the premiere in Face Detection Technology, this pocket-sized digital camera is very convenient and practical for those instant captures.

Cons: This camera, according to its hundreds of clients only has one major flaw and that is, when used indoors, some shots are quite blurry. Minor problems include very slippery when held.

Overall: The FinePix F31 FD provides noiseless images. Although some may encounter problems at first because of the camera settings, users can actually get the hang of it in just a short time. The Fujifilm FinePix F31 FD is light, compact, provides high-end quality images, and most of all, very affordable.
