Are photographers like Artists, do most of them not make a decent living.
I was looking at the portfolio for http://www.starvingphotographer.com/ some amazing photos on that website.
If anybody sells the rights to use their photo's what sites do you use?

I do as a part time job. I've shot construction sites, interiors of homes and apartments, as well as few portraits. I do want to put up my own business but not just focused on photography. A full production house studio is what I have in mind.

I would sadly have to agree. Although there are those that make it big, many photographers are of the starving artist variety.

I love photography and I only do it for fun and for part time job.. I also like to improve more my skills..
Yeah successful photographers are in top magazines but I think it is difficult to enter that world..

I did some sports photography professionally for a couple months, however I soon realized that I didn't like being told what to photography, so I decided to go back to photography simply being a hobby. I actually lost interest for months after a horrible softball tournament.

I would never aspire to make a living from photography, but one day I would like to have a nice little studio room with a nice camera setup to do video reviews for computers, camera's, games. Not me doing the reviews but paying somebody to do them and just overseeing the projects. But alas, I work full time, so no chance of that happening any time soon.

I mostly do it as a hobby, but I do shoot professionally on the side. I've shot quite a few weddings, I've done some video stuff like music videos and short films and I was just shooting on set of a TV show this past weekend. So I have my fair share of income from photography, but still try to keep it primarily as a hobby, the extra cash is very nice though when doing something I love.

Was lucky enough to get a job when I left Uni with a marketing company doing their photography/video/motion graphics. Do a lot of product photography for online and catalogues/print but also location photography of events and stuff. Been here coming up two years and I love every second of it.
