Kodak C663 Review
The Kodak C663 is one of Kodaks easy to use cameras. It is equipped with simplicity. Its set of controls and user interface was designed to be simple. Even its bundled printer dock is just a smile away. It is not only the simplicity thats in Kodak C663 since its the first Kodak digital camera to feature the Kodak Perfect Touch function. It has technology that is only offered in Kodak kiosks, printers and laboratory processing. It is mostly made of polycarbonate with many metal accents and buttons to offer a very luxurious feel. It is small and solid with sufficient handgrip for unwanted shakes. Its dimensions are 3.3 x 2.5 x 1.4 inches (85 x 65 x 36 mm) and weighs5.21 oz (147 g). It is equipped with an optical viewfinder as well as an LCD viewfinder. It also uses the SD memory card type data storage device. It can be powered by various types of batteries such as CRV3 lithium, two AA NiMH rechargeable or Kodak NiMH rechargeable digi-cam batteries (KAA2HR) and two AA Lithium batteries. This digital camera can provide you with 250 shots before its batteries (NiMH AA) run out. The E900 has an LCD size of 2.5 inches with resolution of 6.00 Megapixels. Its lens has 3.00x zoom with efficiency of 34-102mm. and max aperture of 2.7. Equipped with macro (close-up) mode, the user can photograph an area up to 2.09 x 1.57 inches (53 x 40 mm). From the time the power is turned on, it will take 4.9 seconds for the user to take the first shot. Using its normal autofocus, the time from pressing the shutter button to the camera taking the picture is 0.410 sec (wide angle) and 0.410 sec (telephoto). To reduce the shutter lag, prefocusing should be done. The user prefocuses the camera by half-pressing and holding down the shutter button before finally pressing it all the way to take the shot. In doing so, the shutter lag time will be reduced to 0.083 sec. The shot-to-shot time or time taken between shots is 2.16 seconds. This includes the saving process as best-quality jpeg file. In the continuous mode, it takes 2.30 frames per second. The files are saved as large/fine jpeg files. A maximum of 3 shots can be taken then the camera slows down to catch up. It has an optical viewfinder accuracy of 84% and LCD viewfinder accuracy of 100%. Its distortion wide angle is .09% and the distortion telephoto is 0.1%. Even first time users of a digital camera can feel professional when using C663. It has good color and accurate skin tones. It offers sufficient resolution for hefty prints. It is equipped with Kodak Perfect Touch. It has simple and easy to use controls. It has long-lasting battery life. Cons: Its Kodak Perfect Touch increases the images noise with significant shadowing and high contrasts. It has a very slow startup. It has soft and noisy ISO shots. It has a rigid optical viewfinder that only shows 85% of the image. Its a bit high contrast and may lose some detail in harsh lightings. Overall: The Kodak EasyShare C663 is surely a good startup tool for beginners in photography. It is simple and amazing - this makes it simply amazing. It has a set of very user-friendly features and navigation. I can tag along anywhere because it can fit into pockets and bags. Even though it has shortcomings in some details, it is still a great camera for beginners and a greater use for professionals. |
