Sony CyberShot T200
Sony CyberShot T200 Review
The newest member in a long line up of CyberShot Cameras, the T200 carries the now familiar Sony styling, but what really sets it apart from the others is its long range zoom capability and stunning LCD display.
The camera comes with a 35 - 175 mm zoom lens. Using its 5x optical zoom lens, the T200 provides a greater range than most ultra compact cameras in the market, and with the added feature of the Super SteadyShot image stabilization and Double Anti-Blur Solution reduces the blur effect resulting from shaking and jittering. It also has a 10 x digital zoom capability to provide crisp pictures on the fly as the zoom function has a macro focus range of 3.15 in. to infinity(w) / 31.5 in. to infinity(t) and a focal length of 5.8 - 29 mm. All this is done thru an 8.1 mega pixel camera resolution. For better picture quality, the camera has an exposure control aperture range of f3.5/f4.4 (w/t) with a shutter speed of 1/4 - 1/1000 sec. taking pictures at the rate of 2.2 frames per second. Now that's fast.
Video is also presently available thru a resolution of 320 x 240 (QVGA) / 640 x 480 (VGA) with a speed of 16 fps and placed in MPEG format.
All this is viewable thru a 3.5 in. LCD with touch screen functions so you can have ease in looking over your pictures in a no hassle style. The LCD screen comes in 230,000 pixels to provide the utmost clarity available in the market today.
The camera has a built in flash with red eye reduction function for those picture perfect moments at night. Then once your done taking all those fine pictures, they can either be stored thru the built in internal memory with the a 31 MB storage capability that can format them thru fine JPEG compression, or you may also use the Memory Stick Pro/Pro DUO which is upgradeable to 1GB.
The camera also has a self timer for 2 - 10 seconds so you wouldn't be left out on the action. All your pictures can be transferred to a PC as long as the computer has the following system requirements: Apple Mac OS 9/ OS X, Microsoft Windows 2000, ME, XP Home Edition, XP Professional, and the latest edition of Microsoft Windows Vista. Then just connect the included USB 2.0 or video out cables to transfer the images.
The camera comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery capable of 250 continuous images for those who like taking pictures on the go. The package also comes included with Software, USB Cable, Hand Strap, Battery Charger, and AV Cable. All these features comes in a compact body of 3.69 in.(w), .81 in.(d), 2.31in.(h), and 0.35 lbs.(w). Plus you can choose from the following body colours: black, red, silver.
PROS: Being a new model for its range, the T200 is surprisingly well adept in meeting the needs for both the novice and the professional. It offers the same features as in the other cameras in the line up but with the infusion of an LCD touch screen not normally found in others of its class.
CONS: The only qualms present is that the T200 does not have a viewfinder w/c if was included would make picture taking even more user friendly.
OVERALL: The T200 is a very good camera from the onset. If you are familiar with the CyberShot series, then operating this camera will present no hassles at all. If you are a beginner, the camera is user friendly as it is what they say, plug and play straight from the box. In totality, the T200 delivers what it promised and then some more.
