Sony DSC-P200 Digital Camera Review
This model is included in the popular subcompact line of “P-series” modern digital camera products from the company. The model replacement for the Sony DSC-P150 is the Sony DSC-P200 Digital Camera. It is quite similar upon comparing to previous models from the company, one of which is the P150. But the P200 obviously has enhanced and improved features that end users can definitely enjoy or share with their friends. If you are an outdoor or adventurous type of person - this compact digital camera is perfect for your needs because it already passed the “shirt pocket” test for the men, and would definitely fit into the small handbags of the ladies. There are so many things going on around out there and this camera can capture every moment with its Cyber-shot features. It uses the best of technology today, with a 7.2-megapixel CCD and an all-glass, three times zoom lens deliver clear and very sharp pictures. The P200 is also suitable for printing 11x17 inches photos, even if you want to crop them or not. When you are out there and have an internet connection, then you will be able to also send pictures via email, with the camera’s email image size option that creates files with smaller pixel dimensions. The P200 is also great for indoors because of the white balance features that include Auto, Fluorescent, Incandescent, and flash, whereas the Daylight and Cloudy features are more suitable outdoors like when you are at the beach or at the mountains. Aside from those options, you can actually manually set the white balance with just one push. The manual mode also works with flash exposures so you have more options to choose from compared to the previous model. The P200 is also lightweight with only weighing 180g including the batteries already. Its actual size is relatively smaller too compared to that of the P150 model. The lens of the P200 is pretty much the same except for its aperture range description is which the P200 has an additional F10 feature where the P150 does not have. Both models have exactly the same Exposure, Flash, and Power features are exactly the same though in which the longest shutter time is up to 30, shortest shutter time is 1/2000, and the self timer is 10 seconds. It has 4 number of flash modes in which the camera can be set to Auto, Forced On, Forced Off, or Slow Synchro (red-eye reduction on/off). The P200’s performance is better because it takes up to 1.4 seconds to startup, 1.3 seconds to shut down, and 0.1 second to play or record. Its shutter Lag (auto focus) WIDE takes up relatively lesser time of 0.3 seconds. But the Shutter Lag Pre-focus feature takes up 0.013 seconds, which takes longer compared to the P150 model. P200 has a memory stick and a memory stick PRO so you can enjoy more storage capacity for your photos. The images or photos the camera captures are stored on the memory stick media, which is a 32MB stick but there are higher capacity cards that are available in store up to 2GB. The compressed format it uses for the photos is JPEG while the movie file format for the movies is MPEGVX. Its external connections uses serial type, USB 2.0 High Speed, in which computers that doesn’t cater high-speed USB may find it incompatible. This camera is compatible with MAC OS as well as Windows users. The camera’s AF illuminator feature enables the camera to focus in dark and even in total darkness conditions so you can capture anything along your path. It has a real-image optical viewfinder and a larger 2.0-inch color LCD monitor, very suitable for framing shots or for normal ones. Aperture and shutter speed are included in the many camera features it offers which also gives users an optional live histogram display that graphs the tonal distribution of the image and tells users if the photos captured are over or underexposed. You can also opt to make your photos have black and white or sepia effect for that aged look. One of the special features that it has is the movie with sound recording mode. The previous model does not include the audio capability. The camera has Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Candle, “Soft Snap”, Landscape, High Speed Shutter, Beach, Snow, and Fireworks modes. It also has Spot, Multi, and Center-Weighted metering modes and an adjustable AF area and three AF modes. Overall, this camera is perfect for intermediate users who are at home, and advanced users as well. You will enjoy its excellent portability and effective and efficient capture of photos wherever you may be. |
